J. Erskine Risk

Prepared by Michael Steer

The Rev J Erskine Risk, MA, was incumbent of St Andrews Chapel in Plymouth, an antiquarian and reasonably prolific author. Several of his works; 'The limits of philosophical enquiry', 'The choir screen of Exeter Cathedral'; and 'Sir Francis Drake rehabilitated and memorialised' are still available as reprints. This brief paper presented at the Association's 1884 Newton Abbot meeting attempts to redress several errors associated with Drake's part as donor in bringing water to Plymouth, was there a Warleigh Mill Leat, and whether or not the Plymouth Leat had an outfall at Sutton Pool. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. This rare book was produced from a copy held by the Princeton University Library, and is available from the Internet Archive.
