John Babbage of Ringsash otherwise Ashreigney in the County of Devon Yeoman and Joseph Row the younger of Saint Giles in the said County yeoman

Executors named in the last Will and Testament of Lawrence Vodden late of Saint Giles in the said County and Archdeaconry of Barnstaple, Yeoman who died on the twenty second Day of April 1831 make Oath and say that they have made diligent search and due enquiry after and in respect of the Personal Estate and Effects of the said Deceased, in order to ascertain the full amount and value thereof; and that to the best of their knowledge, information and belief, the whole of the Goods, Chattels, and Credits, of which the said Deceased died possessed, (exclusive of what the Deceased may have been possessed of, or entitled to as a Trustee for any other Person or Persons, and not beneficially, but including the Leasehold Estates for years of the Deceased, whether absolute or determinable on Lives, and without deducting any thing on account of the Debts due and owing from the Deceased), are under the Value of Eight hundred pounds

In the name of God Amen This is the last Will and Testament of me Lawrence Vodden of Saint Giles in the County of Devon Yeoman.
I give and bequeath unto my Grandson Lawrence Row his executors administrators and assigns. All that my Leasehold Estate called Whites Kinscott situated in the parish of Saint Giles aforesaid subject nevertheless to one annuity in clear yearly Sum of Fifteen pounds by me intended to be hereinafter charged on the same for the benefit and during the life of my Daughter Margaret Cooke Burnell if my Estate and interest therein shall so long continue.
I give and bequeath unto my Daughter the said Margaret Cooke Burnell one annuity of fifteen pounds chargeable on my said L:easehold Estate called Whites Kinscott with Powers of Distress and Entry for the recovery thereof as if the same had been secured by a Lease on leases for years The said annuity to be paid half yearly with a proportionate part thereof up to the day of the decease of her the said Margaret Cooke Burnell if my Estate and interest in the said Leasehold Premises shall so long continue the first payment to be made at the end of Six calendar months next after my decease.
I also give and bequeath unto the said Lawrence Row my Apple Pound and Engine on Whites Kinscott aforesaid. I give and bequeath unto my grandson Joseph Row his Executor Administrators and Assigns All that my Leasehold Meadow called Berrys meadow situated in the parish of Great Torrington in the said County. I give and bequeath unto my two Sons in Law John Babbage and Joseph Row and the survivor of them his executors administrators and assigns the sum of Ninety pounds sterling to be paid to them at the expiration of Six Calendar months next after my decease upon Trust to invest the same in Government or on real or personal securities with power to alter the securities as they shall think fit And I direct that the said John Babbage and Joseph Row last named and the survivors of them his Executors Administrators and Assigns shall stand possessed of the said Sum of ninety pounds In trust for and for the benefit and advantage of my Grandchildren Lawrence Babbage, John Babbage, Mary Babbage, Richard Babbage, William Babbage, Gilbert Babbage, James Babbage, Edward Babbage and Ann Babbage and to pay to each of them my said grandchildren last named the sum of Ten pounds together with a proportion of what Dividends and proceeds the same shall have accumulated when and as they shall severally attain the age of twenty one years and in case any or either of them shall happen to die before having attained that age then I direct the said John Babbage and Joseph Row last named and their survivors of them his Executors Administrators and Assigns to pay the share or shares of him her or them so dying unto the survivors or survivor of them my said Grandchildren last named equally to be divided between them share and share alike.
I give and bequeath unto my Son in Law John Bond his Executors Administrators and Assigns the sum of sixty pounds sterling to be paid to him at the expiration of Six calendar months next after my decease Upon trust to invest this sum in Government or on real or personal securities with powers to alter the securities as he or they shall think fit and I direct that the said John Bond his Executors Administrators and Assigns shall stand possessed of the said sum of sixty pounds In trust for and for the benefit and advantage of my grandchildren Lawrence Bond John Bond and Mary Bond and to pay to each of them my said Grandchildren last named the sum of twenty pounds together with a proportion of what Dividends and proceeds the same shall have accumulated when and as they

Shall severally attain the age of twenty one years and in case any or either of them shall happen to die before having attained that age then I direct the said John Bond last named and their survivors of them his Executors Administrators and Assigns to pay the share or shares of him her or them so dying unto the survivors or survivor of them my said Grandchildren last named equally to be divided between them share and share alike
I give and bequeath unto my Son in Law Joseph Burnell his Executors Administrators and Assigns the sum of fifty pounds sterling to be paid to him at the expiration of Six calendar months next after my decease Upon trust to invest the same in Government or on real or personal securities with powers to alter the securities as he or they shall think fit and I direct that the said Joseph Burnell his Executors Administrators and Assigns shall stand possessed of the said sum of fifty pounds In trust as to twenty five pounds part thereof for the benefit and advantage of my Granddaughter Eliza Burnell and as to twenty five pounds other part thereof for the benefit and advantage of my Granddaughter Hannah Burnell and to pay to the said Eliza Burnell the sum of twenty five pounds and to the said Hannah Burnell the sum of twenty five pound together with a proportion of what Dividends and proceeds the same shall have accumulated when and as they shall severally attain the age of twenty years And in case either of them shall happen to die before having attained that age then I direct the said Joseph Burnell to pay the whole of the said Sum of Fifty pounds together with its accumulation of interest dividends and proceeds to the survivor of them the said Eliza Burnell or Hannah Burnell their Executors Administrators and Assigns.
I give and bequeath unto my Daughter the said Margaret Cooke Burnell her Executors Administrators and Assigns all that my Leasehold tenement called Clarke Cottage with its appurtenances situated in the parish of Saint Giles aforesaid for and during all my term Estates and Interest therein to hold to her the said Margaret Cooke Burnell her Executors Administrators and Assigns.
I give and bequeath unto my housekeeper Joanna Beer the sum of Five pounds to her within six calendar months next after my decease.
I give and bequeath unto the said John Babbage his executors Administrators and Assigns All that my Leasehold Messuages and tenement called Marshalls tenement with its appurtenances situated at lower Kinscott in Saint Giles aforesaid for and during all my term Estates and Interests therein Upon trust to pay apply and dispose of the clear rents issues and profits thereof unto my Daughter Mary Bond for her separate use for her Life so as she may not anticipate the same and after her decease Upon Trust to assign and transfer the same messuage tenement and premises and the rents issues and profit thereof unto such person or persons and in such part shares and proportions manner and form and for such [ ? ] and purposes as my said Daughter Mary Bond not withstanding her covenant if then married by any deed or deeds writing or writings with or without powers of execution or by her last Will and testament in writing or and writing purporting to be in being in [ ?] nature of such or any [ ? or ? ] thereto to be by her duly and legally signed and published shall direct or affirm.
All the rest residue and remainders of my moneys Securities for Money goods Chattels Estate and effects of what nature and kind soever and wheresoever subject to the payment of my just debts the aforementioned legacies and funeral expenses and the expenses of proving this my will
I give and bequeath unto my said Son in law John Babbage and my said grandson Joseph Row their Executors Administrators and Assigns equally to be divided unto

Them share and share alike and I hereby make nominate and appoint them the said John Babbage and Joseph Row last named joint Executors of this my last Will and testament and do hereby revoke and make void all former and other Will and wills by me of any kind heretofore made and so declare this present one writing alone to be my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have to each sheet of my Will contained in three sheets of paper subscribed my name and to this last sheet my seal also this eighteenth day day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty.

This and the two preceeding Sheets of paper contain a true Copy of the last Will and Testament of Lawrence Vodden late of Saint Giles in the County of devon Yeuman deceased the same having carefully been examined with the original this sixth day of December one thousand eight hundred and thirty one
