Will of John Kent, Superannuated Shipwright from Her Majesty's Dock Yard Devonport

In the Name of God Amen I John Kent of Devonport in the County of Devon Superannuated Shipwright from Her Majesty's Dock Yard there being weak in body but of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding praised be God for the same do for avoiding and preventing all disputes after my decease after my decease make publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say) ffirst I will and direct that all my just debts funeral Expences and the charges of proving this my Will shall be fully Paid and discharged out of my Estate and Effects by my Executrix hereinafter named as soon as conveniently can be after my decease I give and bequeath unto my daughter Harriett Brend the sum of fifty pounds and unto Harriett Brend and Philip Kent Brend (children of the said Harriett Brend) the sum of ten pounds each I give and bequeath unto my Son Isaac Kent the sum of fifty pounds and unto Henry Kent and Julia Kent (the children of the said Isaac Kent) the sum of ten pounds each I give and bequeath unto my Son John Kent the sum of fifty pounds and the Copy-right of my hymns and poems To hold the same to him his Executors administrators and assigns to and for his and their own absolute use and benefit And it is my Will and I do hereby direct that the said several legacies be paid within three calendar months after my decease All the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Personal and Testamentary Estate and Effects that I may be possessed of at the time of my decease I give and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my daughter Rebecca Kent To hold the same to her her Executors administrators and assigns to and for her and their own absolute use and benefit And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said Rebecca Kent sole Executrix of this my Will hereby revoking and making void all and every former and other will and wills by me at any time or times heretofore made and do declare this to be my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this nineteenth day of November one thousand eight hundred and forty two _ John Kent
