In the name of God Amen The one and twentieth daie of Aprill Anno 1596 I John Nott of Hurstoke in the parish of Swimbridge in the countie of Devon beinge in whole minde and in perfect remembrance doth make and ordaine this my last will and Testament in manner and forme following ffirst I commend my Soule into Almightie god and my bodie to be buried in the holie grave of Swimbridge ffirst I give and bequeath unto the poore people of the parish of Swimbridge twelve pence Item to everie of my godchildren fouer pence a peece Item I give unto John Southwoode my Servant after my decease fouer pounds of good & lawfull monie of Englande Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Ann Nott twentie poundes of good & lawfull monie of Englande after my decease and the some of monie to be paide as it shall lie in her mother's discretion and my Overseeers yf she be ruled in marriage Item I give and bequeath unto Robert Nott my sonne all my Plough gere that pteyneth unto my Plough and my Cupboard that standeth in the hall after his mother's decease Item I give unto John Graddon the Clerke twelve pence I give and bequeath unto my daughter Ann Nott my greate Panne after her mother's decease The rest of my goodes movable and unmoveable not here before given I give and bequeath it unto my wife Tomsen Nott whome I doe make my whole and sole Executrix And here I doe appoint to see this my last will trulie performed and my legacies paid John Allen and John Downman the younger at Sandecke and to everie one of them for their paines takeing sixtene pence a peece witnes to the same John Graddon the elder and John Sowthwood my servante 1596 by me John Nott
