TORBRIAN

[Description(s) from The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland (1868)]

"TORBRIAN, a parish in the hundred of Haytor, county Devon, 3½ miles S.W. of Newton Bushell, its post town. The village is near the South Devon railway. The subsoil abounds with limestone of excellent quality. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Exeter, value £286. The church, dedicated to the Holy Trinity, has three sepulchral chapels, and contains a carved screen and pulpit, a piscina, old font, and porch ornamented with sculptured angels. In the churchyard is an ancient cross."
