by

Edward Ashworth

In Exeter Diocesan Architectural Soc. Trans 2 ser, v. 1, (1867) pp. 55-60.

Prepared by Michael Steer

Torre Abbey is today, a historic building and art gallery in Torquay. It was founded in 1196 as a monastery for Premonstratensian canons, and is now the best-preserved medieval monastery in Devon and Cornwall. In addition to its medieval and Georgian rooms, Torre Abbey is known for the formal gardens, for the third largest art collection in the county of Devon and for regular exhibitions by contemporary artists. This rare book was produced from a digital copy held by the University of Michigan Library that can be downloaded from Google Books. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. Those on which copyright has expired are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers.
