VENN OTTERY

[Description(s) from The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland (1868)]

"VENN OTTERY, a parish in the hundred of East Budleigh, county Devon, 3 miles S.W. of Ottery St. Mary, its post town, and 4½ N.W. of Sidmouth. The village, which is of small extent, is situated on the western bank of the river Otter, and is wholly agricultural. The living is a rectory annexed to the vicarage of Harpford, in the diocese of Exeter. The church, dedicated to St. Gregory, has a tower containing three bells. S. Yelverton, Esq., is lord of the manor and proprietor of chief part of the soil."
