"WIDFORD, a parish in the hundred of CHELMSFORD, county of ESSEX, 1 mile (S. W.) from Chelmsford, containing 118 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Essex, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £8. W. Harding, Esq. was patron in 1814. The church, dedicated to St. Maiy, is partly in the early, and partly in the decorated, style of English architecture; it is situated on the west side of the high road from London to Chelmsford."
