"AMPNEY CRUCIS, a parish in the hundred of Crowthorne and Minety, in the county of Gloucester, 3 miles to the E. of Cirencester. It includes the tything of Hilcott End. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol, value £84, in the patronage of the lord chancellor. The church is dedicated to the Holy Rood. There is an endowed charity school, founded by --- Pleydell, with a revenue of £80. Ampney Park is the seat of Earl Ducic."
