"AMPNEY ST. MARY, (or Ashbrook), a parish in the hundred of Crowthorne and Minety, in the county of Gloucester, 4 miles to the E. of Cirencester. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol, value £71, in the patronage of M. H. Beach, Esq. In some portions of the church, which is small, there are traces of early English architecture."
