CHERRINGTON, Gloucestershire - Extract from National Gazetteer, 1868

[Description(s) from The National Gazetteer (1868)]
"CHERRINGTON, a parish in the hundred of Longtree, in the county of Gloucester, 3 miles N. of Tetbury Road station on the Great Western railway, and 8 from Cirencester. Tetbury is its post town. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol, value £176, in the patronage of the Rev. W. George. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas. Professor Trapp, a translator of Virgil, was a native of this place."

"WESTRIP, a hamlet in the parish of Cherrington, county Gloucester, 2 miles S.E. of Minchinhampton."
