- "Taming the Phoenix, Cirencester & The Quakers 1642-1686",
a history of Quakers in Cirencester, by Brian Hawkins, published by
William Sessions, York, 1998. ISBN 1 85072 205 6.
Brian has also published another book "Quakers in Cirencester,
The First Fifty Years" which is a source book rather than a history.
No bound copies are available, but he has deposited copies with
some libraries, and the Gloucestershire Record Office.
This book is ideal for family historians as it has a list of names
of Friends between 1655 and 1705. [Information supplied by Rob Wilson]

articles on the town's history, so hopefully these pages will develop
further.
