COBERLEY, Gloucestershire - Extract from National Gazetteer, 1868

"COBERLEY, (or Cubberley), a parish in the hundred of Rapsgate, in the county of Gloucester, 3½ miles S. of Cheltenham, its post town and railway station. It is situated near the source of the river Thames. The village is small and entirely agricultural. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol, value £320. The church, dedicated to St. Giles, is an ancient stone structure, and contains effigies of the Berkeley family. The Baptists have a chapel. There is a free school."
