NORTH CERNEY, Gloucestershire - Extract from National Gazetteer, 1868

"NORTH CERNEY, a parish in the hundred of Rapsgate, union of Cirencester, in the county of Gloucester, 4 miles from Cirencester, its post town and railway station. It contains the tythings of Calmsden and Woodmancote. The living is a rectory in the archdeaconry and diocese of Gloucester and Bristol, value £654, in the patronage of University College, Oxford. In the vicinity are the traces of a small Roman camp on Ermine Street."
