ROEL, Gloucestershire
- "ROWELL, (or Roel), an extra parochial place in the lower division of
Kiftsgate hundred, county Gloucester, 3½ miles S. E. of Winchcombe. At the
time of Pope Nicholas's survey this place was a parish, and had a church.
It is now attached to Hawling for parochial purposes. The Independents have
a place of worship."
