"SHIPTON-OLIFFE, a parish in the hundred of Bradley, county Gloucester, 6 miles N.W. of Northleach, its post town. The village, which is of small extent, is situated on the London road, and near the Cotswold hills. The parish of Shipton-Sollers was united to this by Act of Parliament in 1776. The surface is hilly, and the soil thin, resting on a substratum of limestone rock. The tithes were commuted in 1792 under an Enclosure Act for 453 acres of land. The living is a rectory with that of Shipton-Sollers annexed, in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol, joint value £430. The church, dedicated to St. Oswald, is an ancient structure." The village, which is of small extent, is wholly agricultural. The living is a rectory annexed to that of Shipton-Oliffe, in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol.
