"STAVERTON, a parish in the lower division of Deerhurst hundred, county Gloucester, 4¾ miles N.W. of Cheltenham, its post town. The village is situated on the line of the Gloucester and Cheltenham railway. The inhabitants are wholly agricultural. The living is a vicarage*, with the curacy of Boddington annexed, in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol, value £436. The church, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, is an ancient structure."
