"ASHE, a parish in the hundred of Overton, Kingsclere division of the county of Southampton, 5 miles to the E. of Whitchurch, its post town. The South Western railway runs near it. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Winchester, value £410, in the patronage of W. H. Beach, Esq. The church is dedicated to the Holy Trinity. The principal residences are Ashe Park and Oakley Hall; at the former of which the Vine hounds meet.""HAWLEY, a tything and ecclesiastical district in the parishes of Yateley and Ashe, hundred of Crondall, county Hants, 1 mile from Blackwater station, and 5½ miles S.W. of Bagshot. It is situated near the river Blackwater, and was formed into a separate ecclesiastical district in 1839. The living is a perpetual curacy* in the diocese of Winchester. There is a National school. A fair is held on the 8th November, chiefly for cattle."
