Brighstone
"BRIXTON, a parish in the liberty of West Medina, Isle of Wight, in the county of Southampton, 6 miles to the S.W. of Newport. It is situated on the south-west coast of the island, near Grange Chine, and includes the hamlet of Limerston. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Winchester, of the value of £515, in the patronage of the bishop. The church is dedicated to St. Mary.
