"NORTH CHARFORD, a parish in the hundred of Upper Fordingbridge, in the county of Hants, 32 miles N. of Fordingbridge, its post town, and 6 miles from Salisbury. It is situated on the river Avon, and was named by the Saxons Cerdicesford, from the circumstance of Cerdic having here defeated the British king, Nanteleod. The living is a curacy in the archdeaconry and diocese of Winchester, valued in the king's books at £5 13s. 4d., but at present not in charge. The church, once dedicated to SS. Peter and Paul, has long been in ruins. There is no village, and only a small agricultural population, decreasing. You can also perform a more selective search for churches in the area that are recorded in the GENUKI church database. This will also help identify churches in nearby townships and/or parishes. You also have the option to see the location of the churches marked marked on a map.

If you keep this page loaded for a very long time and the database is updated since loading it, the church links above may become stale and may display the wrong church. If this happens, reloading this page will correct them.
