Almeley, Herefordshire - Extract from National Gazetteer, 1868

"ALMELEY, a parish in the hundreds of Stretford and Wolphy, in the county of Hereford, 4 miles to the W. of Weobley. It comprises the townships of Hopley's Green and Logaston, and the Kington tram-road runs through it. The living is a vicarage* in the diocese of Hereford, value £254, in the patronage of the bishop. The church, which had once a chantry, is dedicated to St. Mary, and is a fine old Gothic building, with a handsome oak ceiling, restored in 1843. Near it are two barrows and a Roman camp."
