- The manor at Bosbury was the favourite retreat of Bishop Richard
de Swinfield of Hereford. He became Bishop of Hereford in 1283,
succeeding Thomas de Canteloupe. He also owned Prestbury Park
(near Cheltenham, in Gloucestershire). The manor house is gone now,
but the land is now occupied by Cheltenham Race Course.
- A grammar school for boys was founded at Bosbury in 1546 by Sir
Rowland Morton. It stands next to the gaol, but is no longer used,
having been replaced by a new building for mixed pupils in the 1960s.
