Fwthog (Cwmyoy), Herefordshire

FWTHOG, or FWDDOG, is a hamlet of the parish of Cwmyoy, Monmouthshire,
being isolated and surrounded by that county, although
belonging to the county of Hereford. It is distant 24 miles S.W. of
Hereford, 8 from Abergavenny, 8 from Crickhowell, and about 5 from
Llanvihangel Crucorney station on the Great Western railway; is in
Abergavenny union and county court district, Longtown polling district,
and Dore petty sessional division. The population in 1861 was 110; in
1871, 100; inhabited houses, 23; families or separate occupiers, 23;
area, 2,081 acres; annual rateable value, £590. It is chiefly mountain
land.
POSTAL REGULATIONS.- Letters are received through Abergavenny,
which is the nearest money order and telegraph office and post town.
