[1] No County is stated on this Census for William's birthplace. It isn't clear what place is intended, but it MAY be 'Butcombe'. The 1901 Census doesn't offer any clues other than saying William was b. 'Somerset', and to confuse even more, his age (36) differs significantly from that stated here, so it hasn't been possible to determine when he might have been born. Wife Annie E. is however presumably Annie Emily Chadd, bap 15 May 1864 (qv). Her marriage to William Henry Stallard is recorded in Mar 1/4 1885 Ledbury 6a 607, in which case the 1901 Census offers a better match, where she is recorded as aged 35. Isn't this Family History business fun! :-)
