Wills which were proved in the Archdeaconry of Brecon may be found at the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth. PRO Ref: PROB 11/131 (37; Meade) Notes: [1] The Visitation of Hereford 1683 suggests that the Testator's wife Jane was the daughter of … LLOYD of Hinton (fl.1627), but Brian Smith's researches in the Star Chamber records prove that she was in fact one of the four daughters of Thomas PRICE of Peterchurch, gent., who died before 1623. Jane's sister Katherine was the wife of Richard VAUGHAN of Hardwick who was appointed an Overseer above. [2] Of the two PENNOYRE children mentioned above, James PENNOYRE of Hinton gent [c1600-1693] married Dorothy daughter of Epiphan HOWARTH while Thomas PENNOYRE [c1602-1680] married Frances, daughter of Henry VAUGHAN of Bredwardine or perhaps more properly, Henry VAUGHAN of Moccas, the brother of Rowland of the waterworks. [3] According to The Genealogies of Glamorgan p.234, Watkin VAUGHAN of Bredwardine (mentioned amongst Herefordshire gentry of 12 H VI [1434]) had inter alia a daughter who married Thomas ap Jenkin PENNOYRE (living at Clifford 28 Henry VIII [1537]) who were the grandparents of the Testator. |
