TARRINGTON, Herefordshire - Extract from National Gazetteer, 1868

"TARRINGTON, a parish in the hundred of Radlow, county Hereford, 6½ miles N.W. of Ledbury, its post town, and 7½ E. of Hereford. The village is on the main road. The land is partly in hop-grounds. The soil is of a light character. The living is a vicarage* in the diocese of Hereford, value £300. The church, dedicated to St. James, has a square tower containing six bells. The parochial charities produce about £20 per annum. There is a school for both sexes, entirely supported by Lady Emily Foley. Tarrington House is the principal residence."
