"WATER NEWTON, a parish in the hundred of NORMAN-CROSS, county of HUNTINGDON, 6 miles (N. N. W.) from Stilton, containing 138 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Huntingdon, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £ 6. 9. 2., and in the patronage of the Rev. Randolph Richard Knipe. The church is dedicated to St. Remigius. The river New runs through the parish."
