"BAPCHILD, a parish in the hundred of Milton, lathe of Scray, in the county of Kent, 6 miles to the W. of Faversham. Sittingbourn is its post town. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Canterbury, of the value of £192, in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Chichester. The church, dedicated to St. Lawrence, is chiefly in the early English style. There are some remains of an ancient oratory. Hops are grown in the district."
