"CHILLENDEN, a parish in the hundred of Eastry, lathe of St. Augustine, in the county of Kent, 6 miles W. of Deal, and 5 S.W. of Sandwich. Wingham is its post town. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Canterbury, value £130, in the patronage of the lord chancellor. The church, dedicated to All Saints, is a small ancient structure. The principal residences are Goodstone Hall, the seat of Sir B. W. Bridges, Bart.; St. Alban's Hall, and Knowlton Park. There is a fair held on Whit-Monday."
