"RIDLEY, a parish in the hundred of Axton, lathe of Sutton-at-Hone, county Kent, 8 miles S.E. of Dartford, and 4 S.W. of Meopham railway station. Wrotham is its post town. The village, which is of small extent, is wholly agricultural. The land is partly in hop grounds. The tithes have been commuted for a rent-charge of £174 8s., and there are 30 acres of glebe. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Rochester, value £133. The church, dedicated to St. Peter, is an ancient structure containing one bell. The parochial charities produce about £3 per annum. There is a small free school."
