There was a graveyard attached to the 1849 church but this was not used after the opening of the cemetery in Burnley Rd Accrington c1860 The current church on Birtwistle Street does not have a graveyard.
Church History
This Church was founded in 1801 and celebrated its 200th anniversary on October 27/28th 2001. The first building on Abbey St was c1807. It was replaced by a large church in 1849 on the same site in Abbey St just beyond Birtwistle St. This was demolished c1985. A new smaller modern building was erected in Hargreaves St on the site of the old Sunday School and was opened in September 1985 and remains in use. The Abbey Street church was located
