Church History

It was founded in 1924.

A new parish was started in the Wilpshire district in 1924 and a temporary chapel erected in 1925. Fr. Philip Ryan was the first priest and remained until 1929, when Fr. J. C. Gornall took charge. Fr. Patrick Barton came in 1936 but unfortunately did not live long. Fr. Henry Casartelli is the present Rector.

Taken from "Salford Diocese and its Catholic past", a survey by Charles A. Bolton, a Priest of the above Diocese. Published 1950 on the First Centenary for the Diocese of Salford.
