It was founded in 1981.Blackpool Citadel is now located in Raikes Parade within a building which originally housed Blackpool Grammar School. For many years Blackpool SA Citadel was in Coronation Street providing easy access to the Promenade. In the Summer months when Blackpool was crowded with visitors, often from the cotton towns in 'wakes weeks', open air services on a Sunday evening on the Promenade were followed by a spectacular march back to the Citadel for the evening Salvation Meeting.
