Church History

It was founded in 1929.
In 1929 Monsignor Tynan had bought a house in Manchester Road to found a new parish, which would replace the chapel of ease of St. Thomas, established in 1876. Fr. Wm. Meagher was sent here to establish a separate parish. Fr. Wm. Watts and Fr. M. Porter worked here for a time. After 1936 improvements were made during the rectorship of Fr. H. Bolger and a new church opened.

Taken from "Salford Diocese and its Catholic past", a survey by Charles A. Bolton, a Priest of the above Diocese. Published 1950 on the First Centenary for the Diocese of Salford.
