Church History

It was founded before 1888 which is the date on the foundation stone of the chapel. It closed in 1971. Most of the congregation transferred to Central Methodist, Church, The Haymarket, Bury, including the Sunday school.

After closure it was bought by Macphersons paint manufacturers who removed the upper storey which was the actual church and turned it into a service garage for their vehicles.

In 1907 the United Methodist Free Church merged with the Methodist New Connexion and the Bible Christians to form the United Methodist Church.

In 1932 the United Methodists joined with the Wesleyan Methodists and the Primitive Methodists to form the Methodist Church of Great Britain.

This site provides historical information about churches, other places of worship and cemeteries. It has no connection with the churches themselves.
