The church (dedication unknown) , rebuilt in 1861, is a structure of brick in the Norman style, consisting of chancel, nave and an embattled western tower containing a clock and 2 bells : the font, reading desk and pulpit are of Caen stone : the stained east window was presented by Mrs. James Darlington in the year 1861, and there are smaller stained windows : the church has 350 marriages from 1843 and of burials from 1840. The living is a vicarage, net yearly value £300 with residence, in the gift of the rector of Standish, and held since 1855 by the Rev. John Graham Hollingworth B.A. of Exeter College, Oxford.from Slater's Directory, Lancashire 1895 .
