Whilst every effort has been made to record exact details of record office and library holdings
you are recommended to check with them before visiting to ensure that they do hold the records and years you
wish to examine. Similarly check with transcript publishers to ensure they cover the records and years
you require before making a purchase.
Original registers
Lancashire Record Office hold:
- Baptisms 1676-1888
- Marriages 1676-1837
- Burials 1676-1888
Bishop's Transcripts
Lancashire Record Office hold:
- Baptisms 1710-1992
- Marriages 1710-1804, 1813-1835
- Burials 1710-1993
Register Transcripts
The Lancashire Parish
Register Society have published:
- Volume 59 - Bap 1676-1812, Mar 1691-1828, Bur 1678-1812.
Indexes
Boyd's marriage index 1676-1835 is held at the
Lancashire Record Office.
The IGI contains:
- Marriages 1837-1993, baptisms & burials 1813-1993 are being transcribed by
Phil Stringer, for publication by the
Lancashire Parish Register Society.
Status: Aug 2006 - The original data was scanned from a list produced by A.H. Thompson and converted to database format.
The bapt/bur records up to 1910 have been checked and corrected against the film at the LRO. A second check of this needs to be performed.
A check against the BTs also needs to be undertaken. The marriage register is still held by the church, and the vicar will be contacted to
see if it is possible to photograph it to perform a check of the original transcript and to add in any extra detail which may be present.
It is expected that entries less than 100 years old will not be published so effort is not being put into checking these at this stage.
Work on transcripts and indexes start off with good intentions, but circumstnaces can
arise which mean that the task is larger than first envisaged, or other tasks require the
trancribers time. So there is no guarantee that publication will always take place or
that initially envisaged target dates will be met.
The work being undertaken is not being done as part of GENUKI, so it will not be
available for online research as part of this site. This does not of course preclude it
being made available in this way elsewhere. The final publication medium will be
determined by the trancriber.
The church is located at OS grid reference SD572699. You can see this on maps provided by:

Help required
The information provided has been obtained from a number of sources and although every
effort is made to avoid errors, just a few may be present. So if there are any please let
us know. [Use the link at the bottom of this page].
We do not currently have the following information, and if you can provide it then
please do so:
 | Have the Monumentals Inscriptions on the gravestones
been transcribed and published, and by whom?
|
 | Have you any details about the history of the church?
Old directories frequently contain such information, and if you can
transcribe such information and let us have it, we can add it to this page.
|
If you have any further information about the church that you think
would be useful to other researchers then do get in touch.
