It was founded in 1911. Church opened 1940. New church opened 1951
A temporary chapel was opened here from Heaton Norris in 1911. Fr. Hughes of Heaton Norris bought a considerable amount of land and property at a very cheap rate to provide schools and presbytery. Fr. Humphrey Lynch worked hard to reduce the parish debt for several years after 1940 and has now been succeeded by Father Francis Burney, who has renovated the chapel while awaiting a chance to build a church. The foundation stone of the new church was laid by the Bishop on June 17th this year. (Last entry in this history.)Taken from "Salford Diocese and its Catholic past", a survey by Charles A. Bolton, a Priest of the above Diocese. Published 1950 on the First Centenary for the Diocese of Salford.
