It was founded in 1779 and closed in 1847.- 1748 Methodism started in Padiham and was know as the Darney Society.
- 1750 Meetings in a cottage in West Street.
- 1758 First licensed house in West Street (also called Old Chapel Street). Burial Ground opened off Chapel Walk, Padiham near Spring Gardens Terrace.
- 1779 Larger chapel built at Hall Hill.
- 1847 Wesley chapel opened on Church Street .. used for next 68 years.
- 1847 Building at Hall Hill sold.
The Wesleyan Methodist church was formed in the 18th century from religous societies founded by John Wesley and his preachers. It suffered many secessions, but was the largest Nonconformist denomination in the 19th century. In 1932 the Wesleyan Methodists joined with the Primitive Methodists and the United Methodists to form the Methodist Church of Great Britain.
