The church has/had a graveyard. The memorial inscriptions have been transcribed, and are available to view in the family history section of Colne library.
It was founded before 1753. The chapel was built in 1752 and is one of the earliest Inghamite Churches. The religious movement was founded by Benjamin Ingham, an associate of the Wesley brothers. In 1861 a new chapel was built, close to the original, and from that date until 1979 the chapel was used for Sunday worship. The 1752 building was used as a day school, Sunday school and for social functions. Following storm damage in 1979 the new chapel had to be demolished, and from then on all the churches activities were carried out in the 1752 building. It closed in 1998.
This site provides historical information about churches, other places of worship and cemeteries. It has no connection with the churches etc. themselves.
Burials
Anne Wilson has trancribed details of burials at the chapel. These are not burial records as such, but the death records sent by the registrar to the undertaker or person responsible for the funeral. Some of them are signed by a registrar from out of the local district and must have come from a person who wanted to be buried back in Trawden. Notes have added where appropriate. It is likely that not all the records have survived as there seem to be some years missing.
