Description in 1846:
"ANSTEY PASTURES, separated from Anstey by a rivulet, is an extra parochial liberty, 3 1/2 miles N.W. of Leicester, containing 19 inhabitants, and about 100 acres of land, belonging to the Rev. Robert Martin M.A., vicar of Ratby and Breedon, who resides at the Hall, a commodious mansion, with pleasant grounds."

Census

  • Anstey Pastures was in the Rothley sub-district of the Barrow-on-Soar registration district.
     
  • The 1851 census for Leicestershire has been indexed by the Leicestershire & Rutland Family History Society. The whole index is available on microfiche. The society has also published it in print and Volume 13 covers the Barrow on Soar District of which Anstey Pastures was a part.

  • Civil Registration started in July, 1837.
     
  • Anstey Pastures was in the Rothley sub-district of the Barrow-on-Soar registration district.
     
  • The Registrar's Office in Barrow-upon-Soar closed in 1945. Certificates of birth, death and marriage can now be obtained from the Superintendent Registrar at Leicestershire Central or Loughborough

Politics & Government

  • Anstey Pastures was an extra-parochial area that became a Civil Parish parish in 1858.
     
  • The parish was in the ancient West Goscote Hundred in the mid division of the county.
     
  • On 1 April 1935 this place was abolished as a Civil Parish and 74 acres went to Anstey Civil Parish.
     
  • Also part of the above process, the remaining 73 acres went to Glenfields Civil Parish.
