Church Langton

"CHURCH LANGTON parish is in Gartree Hundred, Market Harborough Union and that County Court District, comprising the township of East Langton, West Langton, Thorp Langton, and Tur Langton. It contained, in 1871, 757 persons, living in 204 houses, on 4280 acres of land. The parish was enclosed in 1790, and is bounded bon the east and west by two rivulets, which unite in the Welland about three miles S.S.E. of East Langton." Census

The 1851 Census for Leicestershire has been indexed by the Leicestershire & Rutland Family History Society. Volume 3 which includes East Langton, Thorpe Langton, Tur Langton and West Langton has been published on microfiche.

Church Records

Microfiche copies of parish records for Thorp Langton covering baptisms and burials from 1606 - 1812 and marriages from 1606 - 1837 are held by the Society of Genealogists. They also hold copies of Tur Langton records including marriage extracts for 1612 along with microfiche copies of baptisms from 1693 - 1914, marriages from 1693 - 1760 and burials from 1693 - 1793.
