- The Anglican parish church was dedicated to Saint Peter.
- The church is Early English and was first built around 1500.
- The church was rebuilt in 1868.
- The church seats 200.
- The Anglican parish register dates from 1559.
- The church was in the rural Guthlaxton deanery (second portion).
- The Wesleyan Methodists built a chapel here in 1863.
- The parish was in the Lutterworth sub-district of the Lutterworth Registration District.
- Civil Registration began in July, 1837.
Leire is a parish and a village 4 miles north-northwest of Lutterworth. The parish covers just over 1,100 acres.
The land around the village has been mostly pasture for centuries. If you are planning a visit:
- By automobile, take the A426 north out of Lutterworth and turn left at Dunton Bassett.
- The author found no mention of a manor house in the Leicestershire directories of 1881 and 1912.
- The national grid reference is SP 5290.
- You'll want an Ordnance Survey Explorer map, which has 2.5 inches to the mile scale.

- A National School was built here in 1874 for 60 children. This is also listed as a Public Elementary School and a Church of England School.
