It was founded in 1689. A description of the congregations that occupied this site is given in the Survey of London: Volume 27, Spitalfields and Mile End New Town.
It says that an earlier French congregation (originally Nonconformist, but later conformed to Anglican usage) worshipped at 36 Crispin Street between 1693 and 1716.
In 1716, the lease was taken on by another group (the French Church of La Patente) who stayed there until 1740, when they moved to the church in Browns Lane.
The Crispin Street church was then taken over by Baptists, who had previously been in Turner's Hall. In 1754 a change of minister caused a split in the congregation, with BOTH congregations (one Unitarian, one CalvInist) sharing the building.
The building ceased to be a church sometime before 1828.
The registers of La Patente Church have been published by the Huguenot Society and are available on archive.org.
