Population

These figures are from the population tables which were produced after the 10-yearly national censuses. The "Families" heading includes families and single occupiers.

1801   53   72 283
1811   73   79 340
1821   62   94 426
1831 104 108 505
1841 114   -- 453
1851 104   -- 478

1891   97   97 436

1911   --   98 437

There may be more people living in detached parts of the parish (if there were any) and, if so, the number may or may not be included in the figures above. It is quite difficult to be sure from the population tables.

1821 Census
"An inclosure of land has taken place at Stibbard."
"The increase of population in the Parish of Stibbard is ascribed to an inclosure."
1841 Census
"The decrease is attributed partly to the emigration of paupers."
