"EASTON MAUDIT, a parish in the hundred of Higham Ferrers, county Northampton, 9 miles E. of Northampton, its post town, and 3 S.E. of Billing Road station. Bishop Percy, of Dromore, author of the "Reliques of Ancient Poetry," was once minister of this parish. The village is situated near the navigable river Nen. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Peterborough, value £144, in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Christ Church College, Oxford. The church, dedicated to SS. Peter and Paul, has a spire with flying buttresses, and contains monuments of Bishop Morton, and of the Longueville and Yelverton families, who formerly held the manor and resided at Easton Park. The parochial charities produce about £3 per annum. The Marquis of Northampton is lord of the manor."
