"THISTLETON, a parish in the hundred of ALSTOE, county of RUTLAND, 8 miles (N. N. E.) from Oakham, containing 181 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £3. 11, 0½., and in the patronage of G. Fludyer, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas. The Rev. Henry Foster, in 1692, bequeathed land, producing upwards of £10 per annum, in support of a school."
