"WHISSENDINE, a parish in the hundred of ALSTOE, county of RUTLAND, 4 miles (N.W. by N.) from Oakham, containing 701 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £7. 1., and in the patronage of the Earl of Harborough.
