Islington will no longer supply certificates. You will get a reply saying
It is with regret that we have made the decision to curtail our operations in
the genealogical field. Due to the increased interest in genealogy and a
corresponding increase in applications for certificates made to this office. we
no longer have the resources in time or staff to research and produce
genealogical certificates for the public.
I return your fee and suggest that for all applications relating to
registrations prior to 1901 you apply directly to: General Register Office. PO
Box 2, SOUTHPORT. PR8 2JD. The fee for each certificate is £8.00 if you can
quote the full General Register Office reference, quarter. year, district, volume and entry. Cheques should
be made payable to 'ONS'
