" BADGER, a parish within the liberties of the borough of WENLOCK, locally in the hundred of Brimstree, county of SALOP, 5 miles (N. E.) from Bridgenorth, containing 132 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Salop, and diocese of Hereford, rated in the king's books at £4. 13. 4., and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is 'dedicated to St. Giles. There is a school for poor children, with a house for the master; also six almshouses."
